The Rosie O'Donnell Show
Location: 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY
Area: 11,000 sq. ft.
This project was designed for the popular television talk show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, owned by Telepictures Productions, a Time Warner Entertainment Company. This famous celebrity television host required offices to accommodate her staff, including producers, writers, talent coordinators and herself. The project began at the inception of the show, and has had continuous design changes and additions as the show has evolved.
The offices are located at Rockefeller Center, overlooking Rockefeller Plaza below. This special location has a spectacular view of the ice skating rink and notable events, including the famous Christmas tree lighting.
The design and construction was completed in an accelerated time frame. Projects in the television entertainment business are typically on a restrictive schedule where construction can only occur during the summer hiatus.
Rosie’s youthful and colorful personality shines through in the completed design. Bold shapes, wavy curves and strong primary and secondary colors are used to capture the spirit of the show’s creators. The imagination of the staff is stimulated by the creative surroundings. The show’s logo and animated theme is seen immediately upon entry. Televisions and Audio/Visual equipment are incorporated throughout the office space.
The custom carpet was a key element of the design. The furniture was custom designed to accommodate an expanding staff within a limited amount of space. Fun decorative objects and furniture help add to the unique character of the office.
